Imagine yourself, flying like a bird, peaceful and quiet enjoying the most beautiful views from the sky.  At an altitude of 3000 feet, flying together with a Buzzard, circling in a thermal and rise till underneath the large cumulus cloud. Covering hundreds of kilometres and many hours by making use of solar-power…Welcome to the World of gliding! 

The gliding club Ameland was established in 2006 with as goal to promote the gliding sport. To promote the gliding sport we offer gliding courses to those interested, introduce the gliding sport to tourists visiting the island and to let the island residents make use of the airfield. 

Our website will offer you lots of information regarding gliding in general, the type of courses we offer, options to make introduction flights and how to travel to- and find accommodation on our beautiful Island. Planning a stay on Ameland and learn to fly is an excellent combination of an activity holiday you’ll never forget. There are many other things to do for the family members who don’t want to fly, like visiting the beautiful beaches, swimming, cycling, etc.

Learning to fly a glider is not difficult. It is however time-consuming. To make the most of it, we offer a 2 week gliding course which will steam you ready to fly a glider solo. Our very experienced team of instructors will train you both practical as theoretical. At the end of the 2 weeks training you’ll know all the inn’s and out’s! Next to that we offer training packages which start with a 4 day training with 12 flights up to 12 days with 36 flights, all to suit your personal needs. The training course can start any day suitable for you.

We fly every day from July 15th 2012 till August 25th 2012 at our airfield Ameland (near Ballum).
